Shop Ink Shot Studios prints in photography and architectural illustration!
I’ve explored a wide range of photography techniques and have loved everyone one of them. This year, I am excited to take on infrared photography. I have a variety of “experiments” planned which will use different combinations of filters, white balance settings and editing techniques.
I’ve laid out a nine-week plan for myself – a curriculum of sorts – to focus on a different combination every week. I will post my results at the end of each week on Ink Shot Blvd. and add new images from this learning experience to my inventory in October.
This project will begin in the next few months (depending on the wonderful amounts of spring Wisconsin snow we get!)

- Canon M100 mirrorless body (Life Pixel full-spectrum conversion)
- Canon PowerShot 330 point-and-shoot
- Canon EF-S 17–55mm f/2.8 lens
- Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 lens
- Hoya R72 (720 nm) external filter
- Life Pixel Hyper Color (470 nm) external filter
- iPad Pro 9.7
- Apple Pencil
- Smart Keyboard 10.5” (Excellent for blogging with no lag time!)
Affinity Designer can probably do everything I need, but it’s such a dense app (so many features) there’s a learning curve. Right now, I use it to swap color channels on my infrared photos.
Just like it’s desktop friend, the Lightroom app is an easy option for basic photo editing and cropping. I can control all the light and color elements I want and there’s more control over adding a vignette than the other Photoshop apps.
Procreate is the app I use most often. This is the app I use for drawing and adding unique elements to photos.
PS Express is great for basic photo editing, but my favorite feature is the “reflection” option.
Photoshop Fix is my go-to for healing blemishes or removing objects I don’t want in a photo.
Luma Fusion is perfect for people like me who don’t want to spend all day sitting in front of a computer creating a video. It has an excellent range of features, controls and transitions to create interesting videos.
